How is it possible OTENBA is both a gin and a genever?
Both spirits get their characteristic flavour profile from juniper berries. But while regulations allow genever to go either all out or more low-key with juniper flavours, gin has to have that predominant bitterness of juniper berries. And while genever should always include a malted spirit, gin can. OTENBA is both. Malted and junipery. When looking at botanicals, we’ve mixed herbs and spices that are traditionally found in gin botanicals with those often used in genever and added some Asian botanicals as well.

Taste/aroma: citrus, floral, spicy, vanilla, malt.
Nose: OTENBA is as fresh as warm and fragrant. A distinctly aromatic nose of juniper berries and citrus. The underlying punch of spiciness comes with notes of vanilla, banana and barley, followed by a floral and friendly grainy end.
Palate: OTENBA balances smooth freshness with a sympathetic and rounded finish that lingers. OTENBA has notes of pandan, juniper, orange, flowers and even a small touch of tropical fruit. The finish comes with a dry but warm maltiness and a tingling sensation on the tongue.
