About Pusser's British Navy Rum
Pusser’s Rum is a privately owned, independent rum company that reproduces the original Royal Navy rum in accordance
to its specifications. The word “Pusser” is nothing more than a corruption of the word “Purser“—the officer responsible
for the daily issue of rum on board navy ships. The Admiralty blend became knows as “Pusser’s Rum.”The Great British
Admiralty first served rum daily to its Royal Navy sailors over 300 years ago until the ration was abolished in 1970.
In 1979 Charles Tobias(sailor and businessman) resurrected PR using the original blending recipe from the Admiralty
and bought the recipe rights, formed Pusser’s Ltd. in the British Virgin Islands, and for the first time made the rum
available for public consumption.
