DICKEN'S PUNCH

Charles Dickens, the famous writer, was an avid fan of Punch! Many of his characters would stir up a bowl and he himself quite enjoyed a warm alcoholic beverage. This punch originally is described to be made with fresh lemon peels, powdered sugar and set alight with the alcohol to melt the sugar and oils after which it is doused with warm tea. In a way, this is a punch version of a hot toddy.
